About Me

I'm Ryan, the chef behind The Poutine Guy. I've spent my career working at every level of hospitality, from neighborhood cafés to Michelin-starred restaurants. Those experiences shaped my approach to food: respect for quality ingredients, attention to detail, and a belief that even the most comforting dishes deserve to be made with care. The Poutine Guy combines that professional experience with a genuine love for Montreal's culinary heritage, bringing one of Canada's most beloved comfort foods to New York—one poutine at a time.

How it all Started

Est. New York 2022

The Poutine Guy was born from a family story. When my parents moved to Montreal, they fell in love with the city—its culture, its people, and, above all, its food. Like so many who spend time in Quebec, we became obsessed with poutine, the iconic dish of crispy fries, fresh cheese curds, and rich gravy that has become a symbol of the province.

It struck us as surprising that New York City had virtually no true poutine scene, despite sharing a border with Canada and being so close to the second-largest country in the world. We saw an opportunity to introduce authentic, thoughtfully crafted poutine to New Yorkers.

In 2022, The Poutine Guy made its debut at the Greenpoint Loft Holiday Market. What began as a simple test run to gauge interest quickly exceeded expectations. The response was overwhelmingly positive and confirmed that there was a real appetite for authentic Quebec-style poutine in New York.

A young man with a beard and wearing a cream baseball cap and an apron stands at a white counter in a bright modern space with large windows. There are pendant lights hanging from the ceiling and a large plant behind him. On the counter are a sign reading 'Poutine Guy', a small container of poutine, various bottles of wine, and a neon sign that says 'Poutine' in bright blue.
